Thirteen-year-old Alexandra ‘Alex’ Eala claimed another international crown when she swept the singles and doubles titles at the ITF European Under 14 circuit in Hasselt, Belgium over the weekend.
These were Eala’s third and fourth crowns on the European circuit after emerging as the winner in two other events in the Netherlands and France.
That’s after she ruled the Bruyninx Young Champions.
In the tournament, the top-seeded Eala trounced fourth seed Geogia Pedone of Italy, 6-0, 6-4, in the finals.
In the doubles, Eala and Laudia Hieteranta, who also had the top seeding, downed fourth seeds Yaroslava Bartasevic of Russia and Malwina Rovinska of Poland, 6-4, 6-3, in the finals.
Eala is expected to reach the Top 40 of this week’s European Under 14 rankings and make it to 150th overall in the world. Peter Atencio”‹
