LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Could we see another Elorde on top of the boxing world?

For those unfamiliar, Gabriel "Flash" Elorde was one of the greatest Filipino professional boxers. The boxing Hall of Famer won the lineal super featherweight title in 1960.

In 1963, he won the inaugural WBC and WBA super featherweight titles. He holds the record at super featherweight division for longest title reign, spanning seven years.

Now, one of his kin fights to make a name for himself, continuing the legacy of the Elorde name inside the squared circle.

Juan Miguel Elorde, certainly is taking the necessary steps towards that destiny.

The 32-year-old grandson of the Flash, is going up against one of his tougest foes yet, and under the bright lights of Vegas where one victory could spell the difference on his journey towards boxing superstardom.

The up-and-coming boxer will goe toe-to-toe with reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete of Mexico at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The bout is a 12-round undercard of the much-anticipated Tyson Fury-Otto Wallin heavyweight collision.

Elorde, coming off a unanimous decision win in Manila over Shohei Kawashima earlier this year, holds a 28-1 win-loss record with 15 wins coming by way of knockout.

On the other hand, his Mexican foe impresses with a similar record, albeit with a better KO percentage with 28 wins, 1 loss and a total of 24 KOs.
