Despite the months-long quarantine which has stopped all activities of the Philippine Basketball Association and limited the movement of the entire country the Alaska Aces have managed to stay in shape through their regular group home workouts.

The intensive training sessions have left the Aces in good shape and ready to compete should the PBA resume activities according to forward Jeron Teng.

“Kami sa Alaska, grabe kami mag-workout. Sana makabalik na (ang PBA) kasi naka-kapagod yung workout namin. Halos araw-araw na rin. Mas nakakapagod pa kaysa sa training namin. Sana makabalik na,” said Teng.

The league is scheduled to start activities during the second week of August after the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) and the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) gave their formal approval to begin training among players and teams. The final requirement is for all of the players to be swab tested for Covid-19.

The physical conditioning should come in handy for Teng and the rest of the Aces when the league and its players start practices. The workouts mean the first step towards resuming the season that has been shut down for more than five months.

“If we resume with those small workouts, it’s another step closer to playing. At para rin may maipakita tayo sa mga PBA fans na entertainment and something to look forward to,” said Teng.

He added that he expects the players of the other teams to be as eager to start playing considering the long break following the outbreak of the health pandemic in early March.

Teng said the Aces have only one goal and that is to go all the way. The players are focused and they’ve worked hard to achieve this objective.

“Our goal is the same which is to win a championship. We are all expected to be leaders of the team. All our actions should be towards winning a championship. To be good role models to each other. And to support and guide your teammates when they need them. Just be there for them,” said Teng.
