PSC holds sports psychology seminars for national athletes and coaches

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will hold the second part of its sports science educational program for national coaches and athletes—both in regular and parasports—on August 19 and 20 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Earlier this year, the PSC conducted similar sessions focusing on sports nutrition. This time, the spotlight shifts to Sports Psychology, with the theme “Mind and Body in Sync.”

The seminar is part of the PSC’s high-performance program for elite athletes, reflecting Chairman Patrick Gregorio’s emphasis on athlete welfare as a top priority.

A separate, smaller workshop will be held on August 18, aimed at bridging the perceived gap between today’s young athletes and their coaches. This session will be interactive, encouraging open dialogue and mutual understanding.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of PSC Commissioner Matthew “Fritz” Gaston, has gained support from MILO Philippines, Pocari Sweat, Summit Natural Drinking Water, mWell, BeVera Skin Health Center, and Carmen’s Best.

Speakers for the sessions will come from the PSC’s Medical and Scientific Athletes Services (MSAS) Unit.
