The Philippines’ Team Liquid scored a clean 4-1 grand finals’ win against last year’s champions and Malaysian top seed Selangor Red Giants.OG (SRG.OG) Esports to capture the MSC Trophy at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh on Saturday night (August 2).

After losing hard in Game 1, The Cavalry seemed to have figured The Giants in the next four games.
Led by their exp laner and Finals MVP Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, they managed to halt SRG.OG’s every attempt on building momentum the whole series to bag home the elusive MSC trophy, three years since the country’s last MSC win by RSG Philippines.
With the victory, Team Liquid won 1000 Club Championship Points for the organization and $1,000,000 or roughly P57,000,000 in cash prizes.
Face of ML:BB

Two-time world champion, 4-time MPL PH champion, and a SEA Games gold medalist, TLPH jungler Karl ‘Karltzy’ Nepomuceno has been a part of the discussions on who’s the “G.O.A.T” of ML:BB for quite some time now.
Now, he has finally won the remaining international trophy missing in his decorated career.
From a young kid described as bold and unfiltered, Karltzy evolved into a respectable leader for his team and player for everyone to look up to.
After their match, he was asked again if he now considers himself as the greatest pro player to play the game.
With great confidence, he answered: “If the people call me a G.O.A.T., I will agree with them right now.”
Cavalry support
The Filipino community in Riyadh supported the PH representatives that played at the Amazon Arena, Boulevard City in Riyadh.
To everyone’s surprise, chess Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen, who earlier won in the Chess category of the tournament against Alireza Firouzja, was also seen watching the games.

Representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia were also present in the event to personally congratulate both Team Liquid PH and ONIC PH in their respective victories.
Watch parties were also held in Metro Manila, where esports personalities like Alodia Gosiengfiao, Caisam Yvez ‘Wolf’ Nopueto. Manjean Faldas, and ‘VeeWise’ duo of Johnmar ‘OhMyV33NUS’ Villaluna and Danerie James ‘Wise’ Del Rosario attended to lead the rally for the fans back here in the country.
