PH squash team wins 2 golds in Singapore

THE future of Philippine squash continues to look bright as a new generation of Filipino athletes hogged the international spotlight anew after securing back-to-back crowns at the 12th SICC Marigold International Jumbo Doubles Tournament in Singapore.

Competing under the banner of Kayod Pilipinas, the national squash team leaned on the standout performances of Christopher Buraga, Jonathan Reyes, and Aerra JC Mae Relano to bring honor to the country.

Buraga and Reyes powered their way to victory in the U21 Men’s Jumbo Doubles’ category. Reyes then teamed up with Relano to clinch another gold medal in the U21 Mixed Doubles, marking a dominant campaign against some of the best young talents from across the region.

Just last month, the national team also made waves at the 3rd Southeast Asia Junior Individual Championships (SEAJIC) 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Headlining the impressive run was Ashton Rain Medino, who delivered a flawless gold-medal performance in the Boys’ U11 division. Medino didn’t drop a single game throughout the tournament, leading the charge in a stellar showing for the Philippine junior squad.

The week-long SEAJIC tournament culminated in a five-medal haul for the Philippines — one gold, two silvers, and two bronzes — an inspiring achievement against the region’s top junior players.
