FORMER world champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas of Panabo City showcased his superior power and skill as he stopped Richie “Magnum” Mepranum of Sarangani via a second-round knockout to claim the vacant Philippine super bantamweight title in a card held over the weekend at the Public Plaza in Iligan City.
The 33-year-old former world champion overwhelmed Mepranum with a series of sharp body punches, sending him to the canvas in the second round.
Referee Delbert Pelegrino counted Mepranum out, securing a decisive victory for Ancajas.
With the win, Ancajas improved his record to 36 wins, including 24 knockouts, four losses, and two draws.
On the other hand, the 37-year-old Mepranum now has 38 wins, 10 losses, and one draw in his professional career.
In the co-main event, Samuel “Silent Assassin” Salva of Gingoog City achieved a second-round technical knockout victory over Eldin Guinahon of Misamis Oriental, adding more excitement to the night.
Meanwhile, in the lone female bout of the evening, Iligan’s own Ma. Theresa Pinili defeated Charimae Salvador via unanimous decision.
The event, dubbed “Kumong Solid 2,” was promoted by Raffy and Clarrisa Jimenez of RCJ Promotions, bringing together top boxing talents from across the Philippines.
