THE Philippines is set to host the 2023 Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships in Tagaytay City from February 22 to 25, 2024.

This is the first time that the World Championships will be hosted in the country, marking a significant historical milestone for the Philippine skateboarding community.

Among the athletes who are set to participate in this global competition are Philippine representatives and Team Skate Pilipinas members Sebastian Chanco and Rydelle Abarico.

Abarico, who is currently ranked as the third fastest downhill skateboarder in the world, recently won her first gold medal at the women’s finals of the Tropical Downhill Race in Thailand.

The equally talented Chanco achieved an impressive 4th-place finish in the men’s category of the same event.

Registration for the 2023 Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships will open soon.

Interested athletes may sign up through their National Federations via the World Skate Infinity app (https://infinity.worldskate.org/sign-up). Wildcard participants or those without National Federations, and host country athletes must contact World Skate through their website (https://www.worldskate.org/) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/officialworldskate) to register.

Located just south of Metro Manila and about two hours from the international airport by land, scenic Tagaytay is a popular destination among travelers. The city was one of the hosts of the Southeast Asian Games in 2019, serving as a competition venue for skateboarding and cycling.

For the upcoming Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships, an athlete’s village and the official headquarters for the event will be set up in Fora Filinvest Malls, and partner hotel, Quest Hotel Tagaytay, are both situated 1-2 minutes away from the Skatepark and the Field of Play.

For any concerns or further details about the venue and host city, please email [email protected] or contact +639474873943 over WhatsApp, Telegram, or Viber.
