Ham “Hamzzang” Seo Hee has all the respect in the world for former ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex and her transition into mixed martial arts.
But ultimately, the South Korean believes she’s a different beast altogether when it comes to the world of MMA.
Ham is targeting the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title against Stamp at ONE Fight Night 14 this Saturday, 30 September, inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
“I think [Stamp] is a powerful opponent. Her Muay Thai strikes are powerful, and she successfully transitioned them into MMA,” she said.
“But when it comes to MMA, I’m a cut above her. I think MMA striking has different distances and movements that set it apart.”
One thing that Stamp has criticized Ham for is her lack of killer instinct. But the South Korean believes there’s a difference between a lax fighter and an aggressive but methodical fighter.
For Ham, it’s all about coming in and imposing her will over her opponents, finish or no finish.
“I always aim for the finish and try to fight aggressively. However, I also consider the judges’ verdicts and make sure to prepare accordingly,” she said.
“It’s great if I get the finish, but even if I don’t, I enjoy being in the ring and don’t mind spending more time there.”
While she didn’t want to predict an outcome, what she can promise is that she will come in 100 percent confident in her capabilities.
“I can’t say who holds the advantage, but I maintain confidence in any opponent. Also, I will always enjoy the fight in the ring. And I will always try my best, give it my all, and come down without any regret,” Ham said.
Although Ham’s done a whole lot in her MMA career, she knows there’s only one thing missing from her glistening trophy cabinet – a ONE World Title.
“I think the ONE Championship belt will be the final achievement for me,” she said. “That’s why it means a lot to me.”
