Superbon vows to take out Ozcan: If I lose, everything I’ve done until now will fall apart

Former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn has already licked his wounds and is back on the hunt.

The Thai superstar returns to action when he takes on #5-ranked Tayfun “Turbine” Ozcan in a three-round kickboxing bout at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Mesnshikov inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium next Saturday, June 10.

Superbon is coming off a shocking knockout loss to now ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz “Chinga” Allazov just last January, and now the #1-ranked contender is ready to bounce back.

“Athletes can lose. But when you lose, you must and get back to fighting as quickly as possible. And, it is an important responsibility to prove that you can do better next time,” he said.

Looking back, he believes that he shouldn’t have lost to Allazov in the first place.

Superbon struggled the night before the fight, and it showed as Allazov looked a step quicker than the erstwhile World Champion, resulting in one of the biggest shockers of the year.

“I didn’t adjust to the time. Also, I hardly slept the night before. Of course, I didn’t feel refreshed. I was so worried if I [wouldn’t] perform well because I didn’t get enough sleep,” he said.

“Another factor is that I might have underestimated my opponent a bit. His game plan was better than expected. I must give credit to his good preparation. You know, I haven’t lost in the past [five] years. It made me overlook my own weaknesses. But when I lost, I watched the replay and I could really see my weaknesses. That was my mistake.”

But that’s all in the past now. He plans to vent his ire on Ozcan before taking out everyone standing in his way to get to Allazov.

“Tayfun Ozcan is the only contender in the rankings who I have never fought. And I must beat him if I want to clean out everyone in the rankings and get a rematch with Chingiz Allazov,” he said.

“I think I’m hungrier than Ozcan because I lost more painfully. I lost on my turf and got KO’ed before I had a chance to show what I practiced. I have more motivation than him this time.”

Knowing that he is at the crossroads of his career, Superbon vows to give every ounce of his strength to get back in the World Title conversation.

“I want to take back the belt and defeat everyone in the rankings. And the most important thing is that I can’t lose again,” he said.

“It’s a point of no return for me. If I lose, everything I’ve done until now will fall apart in the blink of an eye.”
