Holding a 5 win-3 loss card, the Philippines is currently in third place in Group E behind leader Lebanon (7-1) and New Zealand (6-2).

China, Australia, and Iran are currently the top three teams in Group F, and Japan at fourth place.

The 16 teams from Asia and Oceania are fighting for spots for the FIBA World Cup to be hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10.

Only six spots are being contested by the aspirants in the Qualifying phase as the Philippines and Japan, being major host countries, are already assured of slots.

Indonesia’s guaranteed spot is subject to reaching the Quarter Finals of the FIBA Asia Cup. The top three teams from groups E and F will qualify for the World Cup.

If Indonesia is guaranteed a spot, the third placer with the better record will qualify in addition to the top two teams from each group.
