3 Team Lakay stars you should know in ONE Championship

 Team Lakay is well-known as an elite training camp for some of the Philippines’ best athletes, having produced world champions across multiple MMA divisions. 

The Benguet-based gym continues to develop athletes of the highest caliber in the country, thanks to their rigorous training regimens and experienced coaches.  

We break down three rising stars you should know as they continue to rise through the ranks at ONE Championship. 

Jhanlo Mark Sangiao 

Jhanlo Mark Sangiao, the son of Team Lakay head coach, Mark Sangiao, possesses an impressive blend of power and technique, allowing him to dominate opponents both on the ground and on the feet.

Sangiao’s last two performances ended in first-round submissions, bringing his professional record to a perfect 5-0. At only 20 years old, “The Machine” is just beginning his career, but he already impressed fans worldwide with his fight performances. 

His most recent fight against Anacleto Lauron at ONE 164: Pacio vs. Brooks demonstrated his superior fight IQ, as he finished “Tenacity” via submission. 

Jeremy Pacatiw 

Jeremy Pacatiw has a proven track record of success in ONE Championship, winning two of his three bouts in the organization.  

His aggressive, high-pressure style has served him well in the Circle, where he has a 50 percent finishing rate. The 26-year-old has a well-rounded game, combining his striking prowess with a knack for submission grappling, making him a dangerous opponent for any fighter. 

“The Juggernaut” also performed admirably at ONE 164, defeating Tial Thang in the second round with a triangle-choke submission to display his incredible ground game. 

Stephen Loman 

Stephen Loman is a talented fighter who possesses a unique combination of skill and athleticism, making him a formidable opponent in the ONE Circle.  

The #3-ranked contender is an experienced athlete with a career record of 17-2, and an undefeated record of 3-0 within the organization. “The Sniper” has displayed his strong mental fortitude when facing tough opponents such as Yusup Saadulaev. 

Loman’s latest showing was at ONE Fight Night 4: Abbasov vs. Lee, where he defeated former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes via unanimous decision in stunning fashion.
