Two friendlies await the Philippine national women’s football Team late as it embarks on a historic trip to Chile in South America for training camp and matches.

Matches on Nov. 12 and 15 are slated for the Filipinas, who continue their preparation for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

The encounters will come in between an 11-day camp, with their first game set Nov. 12 at the Estadio Sausalito in Viña del Mar.

There will be a rematch set three days later at the Municipal dela Pintana, in the capital Santiago.

Both matches will be held with the nod of FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).

“The camp and the matches are historic as this will be the first time the PFF will be sending the team to South America,” said Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta.

Chile’s La Roja Femenina made it to the 2019 World Cup, and is ranked no. 38 by FIFA. The team made it to the continental playoff for the three remaining FFWC 2023 berths.

“With less than a year before the Women’s World Cup, the PFF wants to make sure that the team continues to stay sharp and ready.” PFF general secretary Atty Edwin Gastanes.

“We are thankful to the The Football Federation of Chile for hosting the Filipinas for the camp and matches, and their assistance was a big help,” Gastanes added.
