Stamp open to fight with Xiong, wants second shot at Lee

Stamp Fairtex is one day away from her atomweight MMA matchup with Jihin Radzuan at ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs. Lee III on Saturday, October 1, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

However, the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion is well aware that she is a target for many athletes, including ONE Strawweight World Champion Xiong Jing Nan.

China’s first MMA World Champion may be headlining the event this weekend in a trilogy bout against ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee, but she made it known that she’s interested in a bout with Stamp.

And the #1-ranked atomweight contender is more than willing to meet “The Panda” in the Circle.

“I’m happy that she sees me as her potential rival. It means she might see something in me and looks at me as a good opponent. And yeah, I’m happy to fight with the best like her,” Stamp said.

Earlier this year in March at ONE X, the Fairtex athlete made a bid for Lee’s ONE Atomweight World Title but was unsuccessful. While the fight ended in a submission loss in the second round, Stamp intends to use her upcoming match with Jihin to work her way back to Lee.

“I didn’t feel disappointed after losing that fight. [I just felt like it was] a pity that I couldn’t finish her. For me, it was a great opportunity to share the Circle with Angela, and that loss made me realize the gap between me and her. It made me realize how much harder I need to practice to get back to her in the future,” Stamp said.

“Victory means a lot to me in this fight. If [Radzuan] beats me, she may take away the #1 position from me. Of course, I won’t let her do that. I’ve been training so hard to maintain my #1 position so that I could challenge Angela Lee again.”

Catch Stamp back in the Circle by at ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs. Lee III on Saturday, October 1 on One Sports+ at 8 a.m. PHT. The main card will follow on One Sports+ at 10 a.m. PHT. Also, One Sports will air a delayed showing at 10:30 p.m. PHT.
