GREG Anthony Muyong and Marcus Caleb Pablo grabbed two gold medals in their respective classes as the Congress of Philippine Aquatics, Inc. celebrated the return of the Novice Swim Championships, with the participation of students from public schools on Saturday at the Teofilo Ildefonso swimming pool inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The 14-year-old Muyong of Green Blasters Swim Club topped the boys’ 14-years Class A 50-m Freestyle (27.90) and 100-m Individual Medley (1:09.90), while Pablo of Aquaknights won the 6-years-old category of the 50-m free (57.41) and 25-m breaststroke (28.91) to emerge as the most promising swimmers in the two-day event that is a part of COPA’s grassroots sports program.

COPA founder Batangas 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain, along with coach Chito Rivera and Richard Luna, awarded the medals to all winners after delivering an inspirational message, particularly to the young public school swimmers, who dream of joining competitive tournaments, despite the lack of facilities and short on paying club memberships and coaches.
