Ex-Terrafirma player Adams headed to Japan B.League

After playing for three years local tournaments and a season in the Philippine Basketball Association, Filipino-American Roosevelt Adams is headed to the Japan B.League.

The 28-year-old Adams recently signed a contract with B.League Division II team Kagawa Five Arrows for the coming season, which is set to start on Sept. 29.

“Very grateful for this opportunity and super excited to meet everyone and (make) memories this season!” said Adams in a statement on the Five Arrows’ webpage.

Adams was the top overall pick in the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft and is expected to well with his Japanese squad, which is based in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture.

Kagawa recently placed third with a 36-16 win-loss record, with the Toyotsu Fighting Eagles taking the crown over Sendai 89ers.

The 6’5″ Filipino-American sharpshooter suited up for the 2021-2022 season of the PBA with Terrafirma Dyip, but he did not re-sign last January.

He had total of 22 games, with an average 10.33 points in the 2020-2021 Philippine Cup and higher norm of 11.22 points in the 2021-2022 Philippine Cup.

Earlier, Adams joined the MPBL (Pasay) and Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 (Basilan) first before entering the draft in 2019.

Adams is in the company of  three other Filipino players in Division 2, namely Kobe Paras (Altiri Chiba), Greg Slaughter (Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka), and Jordan Heading (Nagasaki Velca).

He has represented the Philippines, while with Mighty Sports in the 2019 Dubai international tournament, the 2019 William Jones Cup, and was with Gilas Pilipinas in the 2022 FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers.
