The mammoth has bitten the bullet.

It took only 80 seconds for the champion Sugar Ray “The Mammoth” Estroso in dismantling his challenger, underdog Boss “Ang Bumangga Giba” Bullet to retain his heavyweight crown in the much-anticipated Universal Reality Combat Championship Global Fight Night at the Xylo, Uptown BGC in Taguig City last Tuesday.

Estroso, a former professional boxer, proved too strong against his overhyped challenger Boss Bullet as he needed only one vicious punch in the early going to send a strong message that wanted to keep his championship belt via the short route and not through the scorecards.

Bullet, a medalist fighter and a vlogger in the Middle East, was dead serious in defeating the champion as he valiantly exchanged blows with his foe, minutes in the first round. That was until that bolo punch from the champ knocked him down, although he gallantly escaped from Estroso’s relentless attack at the canvas.

A missed roundhouse kick and a raging bull attack by the underdog proved to be fatal mistakes as he was only shoved by the champ, who caught him with a barrage of stinging punches to finally knock him out as the third man of the cage had seen enough to end the fight, much to the delight of big crowd at the Xylo.

“Plano talaga namin sa Team Estroso camp, kailangan pagsuntok ko, iindahin niya (Bullet), para ‘pag tumama ay may paglalagyan siya. I know I’m too strong for him,” said the reigning champion, who gave an unsolicited advise to his fallen challenger. “Dapat ipagpatuloy pa niya ang training sa URCC at hamunin niya iyong mga katapat lang niya. Mas malaki ako at mas malakas, gusto niya kasi champion agad ang kakalabanin niya, kaya hayun humalik siya sa lona.”

URCC founding chief Alvin Aguilar praised the two protagonists for showing sportsmanship after the fight and congratulated Estroso for the victory.

“At least natapos natin ang matagal na nilang feud na kahit saan sila magkita, sa airport, sa gym, press conference and weigh in, ay nagbabangayan. So we brought their fight inside the cage and the rest is history,” said Aguilar, who is also the president of Wrestling Association of the Philippines and international jiu jitsu champion during his prime.
