Pampanga seeks 10th win against Bacoor; Bataan, Valenzuela tackle separate rivals

Streaking Pampanga shoots for win No. 10 in the OKbet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 4th Season presented by Xtreme when it tangles with host team Bacoor on Friday at the Strike Gym.

Jayson Castro Apolonio provides Pampanga with a scoring threat.

Composed of homegrown talents, the Giant Lanterns are on a 5-game roll and will try to further improve their 9-4 slate when they battle the Strikers, who have won two in a row for a 5-6 card, in the last game of a triple-bill at 9 p.m.

Other games pit Bataan (8-4) against Pasig (7-5) at 5 p.m., followed by the Valenzuela (7-6)-Bacolod (7-6) tussle at 7 p.m.

Archie Concepcion and Jayson Castro Apolonio will again spearhead Pampanga, which dumped Imus (83-62) on August 20 at its homecourt–the Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando.

Playing at its homecourt, Bacoor should be no pushover, especially if the Strikers play the same way when they clobbered the depleted Manila Stars, 102-65, on August 19.

The Strikers have bolstered their roster and Ian Melencio, Jan Jamon and Dave Moralde are expected to complement the efforts of Mark Montuano, Mark Pangilinan, RJ Ramires Lester Reyes and Edsel Mag-isa.

Although Valenzuela XUR Homes Realty has won its last three games and Bacolod Bing Plus has dropped its last two, their game is expected to be a thriller.

Same with the Pasig-Bataan encounter which will feature the matchup between the Realtors’ Carlo Lastimosa and the Risers’ James Darwin Castro.
