A week before the much-awaited NBA Draft, which will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Sotto and Alapag met during the workout with the team.

On his Social media Instagram account, Alapag posted his photo with the 20-year-old Sotto with the caption “Great to see Kai here in Sacramento! Best of luck on your journey to the NBA! The entire country and I are rooting for you!! Keep working!”

Will the Alapag factor work for Sotto? He can be a potential project for Alapag for the Kings, though.

Joining Sotto in the workout were Jacob Gilyard, Fatts Russel, Yoan Makoundou, Karlo Matkovic, and Yannick Nzosa, according to the social media post of the Kings.

Reports have it that the potential Top 10 picks in the coming NBA draft have already visited the Kings. Sotto was also accommodated in their guest list.

The Sacramento Kings own the fourth overall top pick in the said draft.

Sotto has worked out with several NBA teams, including the Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and most recently with the Cleveland Cavaliers before sustaining a slight ankle injury.

Before he enlisted for the NBA draft, he saw action for the Adelaide 36ers in the Australian National Basketball League, where he averaged 7.6 points on 51 percent field goals, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per 15.2 minutes in 23 games.

Sotto is bidding to become the first homegrown, pure-blooded Filipino to play in the NBA.
