Zamboanga tests Caloocan’s mettle, Sarangani aims for win No. 2 vs Rizal

Debuting teams Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines and Caloocan tangle at 7 p.m. on Saturday as the MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 4th Season resumes at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Sarangani tries to spring another surprise when it clashes with host team Rizal at 9 p.m.

The Zamboanguenos are one of the favored teams in the Southern Division with their veteran-laden roster and are tipped to prevail over Caloocan, which has yet to release its official lineup.

Expected to deliver for Zamboanga are big men Jhaymo Eguilos, Chito Jaime and Chris Dumapig. the Marcelino twins Jayvee and Jaycee, and gunners Jhaps Bautista, Adrian Santos and Choi Ignacio.

The retooled Sarangani Marlins subdued Valenzuela, 77-73, in the season opener on April 25 at the Batangas City Coliseum and are slight picks over the Rizal X-Mall Golden Coolers.

Gabby Espinas, Andoy Estrekka, youtube sensation Kyt Jimenez, Reggie Boy Basibas, and Paul Sanga will provide the firepower for Sarangani Coach John Kallos.

Mark Benitez will again be the main man for the Golden Coolers, who are determined to make the playoff rounds this year.

MPBL games are being shown on One PH-Cignal TV and Facebook Live.
