The Philippine Tennis Association Juniors tennis tournament kicks off Saturday at 8 a.m., with the boys’ 14-under and 18-under divisions at the PCA outdoor courts.
In line with Philta’s new normal tournament guidelines, the self-umpire rule will be implemented, where all 192 registered players must call their own lines – with the objective of educating age-groupers with a tougher tournament environment.
Roving umpires will be assigned in the Philta-sanctioned juniors’ competition.
And since there is no formal rankings yet, the Tournament Committee identified players based on their current and previous credentials for seeding purposes.
PCA safety protocols, including full vaccinations, social distancing and mandatory wearing of face masks except for age-groupers during their respective matches, are also in place.
The Philta Juniors is the start of Philta-sanctioned nationwide events under the new normal tournament guidelines.
