B.League veterans Thirdy Ravena and Dwight Ramos will be the ones to provide leadership on the floor for the Gilas Pilipinas national men’s basketball team in its future games.

Their hard work and dedication to the team have left an impression on coach Chot Reyes.

“I expect them to be the leaders of the team, by their game and ethics, and the effort that they showed,” said Reyes on the weekly program, “Power and Play.”

Ravena plays for SanEn NeoPhoenix and Ramos is part of the Toyama Grouses in the B.League.

They played for the first time under Reyes in the second window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers last week at the Araneta Coliseum.

And it was the first time that they suited up in front of a Filipino audience, along with Angelo Kouame, and Will Navarro, who were part of the Gilas team that was under Tab Baldwin.

“It was my objective to get to know these players. And that’s because I never had a chance to coach them,” said Reyes.

The Gilas Pilipinas national men’s basketball team is currently in a rebuilding mode.

Reyes is forming a new batch composed of young cagers and professional players in time for the next window.

These new batch of players will make up the next Gilas team that is being prepared for future competitions after the FIBA World Cup 2023 is finished.
