Season 84 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines begins on March 26.

Host De La Salle University is planning to have men’s basketball and women’s volleyball tournaments up and running by April.

Organizers are keen on holding events by summer after all eight UAAP member schools have gone into training sessions for Season 84 since last month under a full bubble setup.

Players who are part of the defending men’s basketball and women’s volleyball titleholders Ateneo de Manila University have already been doing their workouts from inside their Katipunan campus as early as January.

Student-athletes from University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, De La Salle University, Adamson University, and National University have gone into bubble training as well.

Organizers are now planning a quadruple-header schedule on every playdate.

The league will soon finalize its plans once it gains the nod of local government units involved, the Department of Health, the Commission on Higher Education and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for the resumption of play.

Season 83 was halted in March 2020 after the government imposed a series of lockdowns to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The league will now air its games on TV5, after parting ways with long-time broadcaster ABS-CBN back in 2020.
