Dolphins grab share of 2nd spot in B.League

American import Scott Eatherton, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and two others scored in double digits as the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins subdued the Kyoto Hannaryz, 87-73, Sunday night in the 2021-22 B.League at the Dolphins Arena in Aichi, Japan.

The 6’2” Eatheron and Parks unloaded 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Diamond Dolphins, who posted their 16th win in 23 games in the West District.

This allowed the Diamond Dolphins to climb to a share of second place with the Shimane Susanoo Magic and firm up their place in the quarterfinal round.

The Ryukyu Golden Kings are solidly in the lead with their 20-3 win-loss slate after putting away the Yokohama B-Corsairs, 81-79, last Saturday, and 79-66, on Sunday.

Coty Clarke and Robert Dozier shot 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Diamond Dolphins, who moved away, 64-55, at the end of the third period.

Earlier, the Diamond Dolphins won over the Hannaryz, 84-53, with Clarke making 12 points, and Parks contributing five.

Meanwhile, Kiefer Ravena complemented Ovi Soko’s big game as the Shiga Lakestars completed two-game sweep of Niigata with a 90-77 win Sunday at Ukaru-chan Arena.

Ravena had 10 assists in the game against just one turnover with eight points, steering the Lakestars to a 9-14 slate and into a share of seventh spot with the Shinsu Brave Warriors.

Kobe Paras did not see action after he was benched by Albirex BB.

The Lakestars’ win allowed them to bounce back from 78-59 loss on Saturday, with Paras subbed out by head coach Tadaharu Ogawa for committing a turnover. The 6’6” Filipino import was seen on the bench frustrated.

Soko came off the bench and led Shiga with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

In other games, Filipino import Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses took a 90-95 loss to Gunma.

The Grouses, with their 8-15 slate in ninth, stayed in contention for a quarterfinal berth.
