After winning a silver medal in the women’s weightlifting event of the Rio Olympics last year, Hidilyn Diaz’s life made a sudden turn with instant fame and fortune.

Despite her achievement in her sport, the amiable Zamboanga lass is not resting on her laurels as she wants to accomplish more.

Her week is filled with activities as a member of the Philippine Airforce, college student at College of St. Benilde and a national athlete as well as coach of the weightlifting school she built near her home in Zamboanga City.

Does she ever have time for her love life?

Appearing in the weekly forum of the Philippine Sportswriter Association (PSA) at the Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay City on Tuesday morning (January 31), Hidilyn was bubbly. If she’ s in love, she wouldn’t tell.

And when asked to choose her priority between career and love life? With a smile, she answered “career po.”

Later in her social media post, she seemed to tease someone as Valentine’s Day approaches. When pressed by this writer, she said “Alam ko naman po priorities ko.”

Without doubt, love life takes a backseat as she prepares hard for a grand comeback in the competition arena.

She wants to train in China for her participation in the Asian Indoor Games in September in Turkmenistan where she is expected to again test her mettle against the top weightlifters in the world. Then it’s the World Championship the next month.

Before the serious grind, though, on February 13 she will be at her best dress when she receives her trophy as PSA Athlete of the Year awardee in  glittering rites at the Le Pavilion in Pasay City.

That’s a day before Valentine’s Day. Will her Knight in shining armor be around to escort her? We’ll find out.
