COLEGIO De San Lorenzo goes for the fourth semis berth when it collides with University of the Batangas today in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque City.

Though the CDSL Griffins are tied with the Bulacan State University Gold Gears for fourth to fifth places with similar 4-6 records, they can clinch the last semis berth if they beat the surging UB Brahmans in their 2 p.m. showdown.

But if they lose to the Brahmans and the Gold Gears prevail over the Diliman College Blue Dragons in their 12 noon duel, the latter will earn the right to meet No. 1 Centro Escolar University in the semis.

The Griffins, however, will still secure the fourth semis if both teams hurdle their final assignments due to their superior quotients.

They suffered a heartbreaking 85-84 loss to the Gold Gears two weeks ago, but they won the first time they clashed, 94-88.

The Brahmans can play the spoilers’ role, having won their last two games after dropping their first 9 games.

The No. 4 seed will have to beat the Scorpions twice to advance to the finals – the privilege enjoys by No. 2 seed Technological Institute of the Philippines over No. 3 Olivarez College.

The Scorpions are still unbeaten in 11 games, while the TIP Engineers officially secured the No. 2 spot following a 79-74 win over the Olivarez Sea Lions the other day.
