WHENEVER Bernabe “Teytey” Teodoro comes up with explosive plays, things turn out well for the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.

The 22-year-old Teodoro led with 22 points and struck hard in the last two minutes to power the Heavy Bombers to a 65-60 stunner over the Mapua Cardinals yesterday at The Arena in San Juan.

The 5’8” point guard unleashed a triple and scored on a drive with 1:13 left, allowing the Heavy Bombers to move away, 65-58, and eventually post their second consecutive triumph in the 92nd National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.

The win allowed the Heavy Bombers to take solo sixth, ahead of the Lyceum Pirates with their 5-5 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, the multi-titled San Beda Red Cubs and their worthiest challenger, the Arellano University Braves, smothered their foes in the junior division.

The Red Cubs and Braves stayed on top of  the leaderboard with identical 10-1, win-loss cards.

Meanwhile, Jesper Ayaay scored off Kier Quinto in the last 3 seconds, lifting the Lyceum Pirates to a 68-66 upset of the defending champion Letran Knights. This put the Pirates in a three-way in fifth spot with JRU and the Knights at 5-5.
