Women’s volley league set Sunday

ST. James Academy had to beat two teams over the weekend to lead the semifinal cast of the 13-Under Developmental Division of the Milo-sponsored Women’s Volleyball League, organized by the Best Center at the Xavier School gym.

St. James drubbed Assumption College-Antipolo, 25-19, 25-22 before it ripped St. Scholastica’s College-Manila, 25-13, 25-23, for its fifth and sixth wins to remain unbeaten heading into the semifinals on Sunday (March 1) against Group B’s second top team, St. Paul’s College Makati, which beat St. School of the Holy Spirit, 25-12, 21-25, 25-14, for a 4-1 card.

They collide for a finals slot at 8 a.m. on Sunday also at the Xavier School gym.

The finals, according to Best Center founder and president Nic Jorge, will be held on March 8 at the San Beda College gym.

Holy Family School, the top Group B team, frustrated Poveda, 25-21, 25-11, to advance against idle St. Peter the Apostle, second best team in Group A. They clash at 9 am after the St. James-St.Paul match.

Colegio San Agustin-Makati will also march unbeaten with six wins the 13-Under Competitive Division after a 25-6, 25-22 crushing of Jubilee Christian Academy.

CSA will face St. Scholastica’s Manila, which also defeated Jubilee, 25-22, 25-14, at 10 am.
