Collecting the nation’s past, celebrating our heroes’ legacy

Every object tells a story. A coin tucked away in a collector’s album, a medal passed down through generations, or a fragile page from an old book all serve as fragments of history that remind us where we came from.

This weekend, August 23 and 24, the Filipinas Collectibles and Antiques Society (FCAS) in partnership with the J. Amado Araneta Foundation gathers these fragments under one roof at the FCAS Convention 2025 in Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City. The timing feels fitting since it happens just before National Heroes’ Day, making the convention a living archive where heritage and memory come together.

Now on its biggest run yet, the convention welcomes collectors, history buffs, and the simply curious. Visitors can explore heritage collections, meteorites, rare artifacts, coins, artworks, and memorabilia, each display offering a tangible link to the past. The event also features interactive showcases and cultural presentations that aim to spark curiosity among younger audiences.

Adding another layer of storytelling are talks and book signings with historians Ambeth Ocampo and Prof. Xiao Chua, who will show how objects from the past continue to shape Filipino identity today.

By bringing together artifacts, stories, and voices, the FCAS Convention 2025 becomes a reminder that history is not confined to textbooks or monuments. It lives in the objects we keep, the memories we share, and the identities we continue to build. For visitors, it’s an invitation to see heritage not as something distant, but as something carried in everyday life, waiting to be rediscovered.
