Actor and former senator Bong Revilla addressed the public after a court issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with a malversation case linked to alleged ghost flood control projects in Bulacan.
On Monday, Jan. 19, Revilla said in a Facebook video that he was surprised and disheartened by the lack of due process following the issuance of the warrant by the Sandiganbayan Third Division.
He confirmed that he voluntarily surrendered to authorities after learning of the warrant. While denying any involvement in the alleged irregularities, he said he is prepared to face the charges.
The actor-turned-politician also reiterated his claim of innocence and said he believes the case will eventually be resolved in his favor.
“Pero ganun pa man, haharapin ko ito ng walang takot at alam kong hindi ako pababayaan ng Diyos dahil wala akong kasalanan dito,” he continued.
Revilla also asked supporters to pray not only for him but for his family, admitting that the situation has been emotionally difficult.
According to court records, the case involves accusations of malversation tied to supposed flood control projects that were never implemented. Aside from Revilla, six officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways were also ordered arrested and barred from leaving the country.
Following his surrender, supporters gathered outside the Sandiganbayan to show support, insisting that Revilla was not involved in any ghost projects during his time in public office.
The case remains pending before the anti-graft court.
