Actor Albie Casiño publicly called out content creator and engineer Slater Young for remaining silent amid renewed backlash surrounding the latter’s Monterrazas de Cebu real estate development.
On his Instagram, Albie posted a series of photos questioning Slater’s silence on public accusations that his luxury development contributed to the widespread flooding in Cebu.
“Check comments. I thought you were listening to feedback? Seems like you’re awfully quiet now, bud [Slater Young],” Albie wrote.
Social media users and some local residents linked the flooding to hillside developments, including Monterrazas, claiming it could worsen runoff in the area. Experts have also raised concerns that projects built along mountain slopes may pose landslide and flooding risks if not supported by adequate drainage and flood-control systems.
On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said it is reviewing the project, which is located on the mountainside of Barangay Guadalupe in Cebu City. A technical team is set to conduct a comprehensive on-site inspection to determine whether the development complies with its environmental compliance certificate and relevant regulations.
Slater previously stated that Monterrazas is committed to sustainability and was designed with a team of architects, engineers, and environmental consultants.
