P-pop group BINI files complaint over edited street food video

Members of the P-pop girl group BINI have filed a legal complaint against an unnamed individual over an edited street food video that allegedly misrepresented them, their lawyer said.

According to ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe, the eight-member group, represented by celebrity lawyer Joji Alonso, submitted the complaint at the Hall of Justice in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Alonso said the respondent is accused of unjust vexation under Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

“This complaint emanated from a spliced video of the girls who were testing, rating and tasting Filipino street food,” Alonso told reporters. “The reduced video was running about two minutes and contained nothing but negative reactions, negative comments on the food that they tasted. So this completely changed the narrative of the show because what was left was all negativity.”

If convicted, the respondent could face six to 12 years in prison. Alonso said BINI is also seeking ₱1 million in damages for each member.

In a post on Instagram, Alonso shared a portion of the filing and identified her clients as Gwen, Aiah, Sheena, Mikha, Maloi, Jhoanna, Stacey and Colet. She did not provide additional details.
