Pop star Miley Cyrus will revisit the role that launched her career in the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, streaming on Disney+ March 24.
Filmed before a live studio audience, the special features an interview with Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper, exploring the creation of the iconic character and the show’s global impact. Viewers will see archival footage and recreated sets, including the Stewart family living room and Hannah Montana’s closet.
“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus said. “This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
The original series became a global phenomenon, influencing music, fashion, and children’s television. It earned Emmy nominations, 14 platinum and 18 gold albums, and two feature films.
“Hannah Montana opened the door for so many fans to dream big, sing loud, and embrace every side of themselves,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.
The special is produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, with Ashley Edens as showrunner. Cyrus, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Cooper, and Matt Kaplan are executive producers. Cooper also hosts the program.
The Hannah Montana catalog has streamed over half a billion hours globally on Disney+.
