Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross are embracing both excitement and pressure as they take the lead in Golden Scenery of Tomorrow, the fifth installment of Viva One’s hit University Series based on the popular Wattpad novels by author Gwy Saludes.
During the show’s press conference, the pair spoke about bringing to life Via and Arkin, two characters well-loved by readers and with a solid following. Both acknowledged the challenge of meeting fan expectations while staying true to the story’s heart.
“We try our best to deliver what’s in the book—the accuracy of it. Even Direk Victor [Villanueva] would ask us, ‘How would Via or Arkin react in this scene?’ He really makes sure we portray them the way readers imagine them,” Bea told Manila Standard Entertainment.
Wilbert echoed her sentiment, sharing that they both understand the weight of those expectations, especially since the University Series has grown into one of Viva One’s most-followed franchises.
“It’s not just about proving anything. Fans already accepted us for these roles, and we want to keep earning that approval with every episode. We just want to make sure it’s worth the wait,” explained Wilbert.

The actor also shared that the anticipation from long-time readers motivated them to perform with authenticity.
“The pressure will always be there. But it’s a good kind—the kind that pushes you to do better,” he continued.
To prepare for the project, both stars immersed themselves in the world of their characters. Bea trained in volleyball to reflect Via’s athletic personality, while Wilbert revisited his music background to perfect Arkin’s image as a guitar-playing songwriter.
“We’re really giving our best to make them real. These characters deserve that kind of effort because fans know every little detail about them,” Bea added.
When asked whether they would make the same choices as their characters in the story—particularly about prioritizing career over love—the two offered thoughtful yet contrasting views.

“For me, love can wait. I’ve been working hard for my dreams. I want to focus on my goals first. That’s where I’m at right now,” Wilbert shared.
On the other hand, Bea offered a more balanced perspective.
“Why choose when you can have both? If it’s real love, it should support you; it should be with you as you chase your dreams. You lift each other up,” the actress replied.
Their answers reflected the central theme of Golden Scenery of Tomorrow—the pursuit of dreams while navigating love and personal growth.
Director Victor Villanueva, who described the series as “a coming-of-age story more than a romance,” said working with the ensemble cast was a rewarding experience.
“It’s very relatable because it’s about dreams and friendship. Bea and Wilbert understood their characters so well that I didn’t have to do much directing. Their chemistry came naturally,” the director said.
Golden Scenery of Tomorrow now streams on Viva One.
