Maine Mendoza has appealed to fans to avoid hostility toward Alden Richards following the buzz over her recent podcast revelation about once falling for her former on-screen partner.
In a series of posts on X, Mendoza clarified that her comments were not meant to stir controversy, stressing that both she and Richards have long moved on from their Kalyeserye and AlDub days.
She explained that the podcast was intended to look back on behind-the-scenes stories from a decade ago and not to spark renewed conflict.
“There was no intention to provoke criticism or negativity toward him or anyone else. I was asked, I answered, and I shared a short anecdote,” Mendoza wrote.
She added that Richards remains an important part of their shared history and that excluding him from the discussion would have been unnatural.
Addressing the backlash she continues to receive online, Mendoza questioned the point of pitting her against Richards or comparing their careers. She urged fans to focus on positivity, saying “life is short” and should not be wasted on spreading hate.
“Please don’t throw hate at Alden,” she reminded supporters. “It was really for the best for both of us at that time.”
