Television star Aljur Abrenica is back to doing films, and starting his renewed journey on the big screen, the 31-year-old actor banners Nerisa opposite former beauty queen Cindy Miranda.
Dubbed as this year’s sexiest and most daring local drama, the Viva Films offering starts streaming globally today via numerous platforms including ktx.ph, iWantTFC, TFC IPTV, and Vivamax.
“I just feel so fortunate to have been given a chance to act in movies again. I’m working on a few films apart from Nerisa so this is a good start,” Aljur said in Filipino.
Nerisa is the actor’s first film in five years and also his first movie produced by Viva Entertainment.
“I’m thankful for the trust and I look forward to doing more projects with them,” the actor added.
In the story, Aljur plays a fisherman named Obet who falls in love with Nerisa (Cindy), a woman who mysteriously floats ashore on an island.
Obet saves Nerisa and they eventually start living a blissful life together until he and his fellow fishermen encounter a boat accident.
Nerisa gets blamed as the cause of the misfortune. Nerisa feels her husband is still alive and will do whatever she can, even offering her body, to get him back.
Speaking to Manila Standard Entertainment, Aljur said that the movie “really lives up to everyone’s expectations” being a sexy drama. Talking in vernacular, the actor assured that Nerisa will awaken the senses of the viewers.
“This movie is really daring. I haven’t done anything like this before. Obet and Nerisa are a couple and the movie shows what a normal couple does,” Aljur said.
“But every daring scene was done professionally. And I’m glad Cindy felt that she was well taken care of during our intimate scenes. She thanked me for asking about her limitations when it comes to doing those scenes,” the actor added.
Aljur said that delicate scenes were mostly done in one take. During the shoot, the director instructed them how the scenes would be executed but it’s his and Cindy’s responsibility on how to make the scenes “look and feel natural.”
“There’s definitely respect between us. I think the reason why our pairing works is that we communicate, we talk a lot before each take,” Aljur stated.
Joining Aljur and Cindy in the cast are senior actors Elizabeth Oropesa and Bembol Roco, and other rising artists such as Sheree Bautista, AJ Raval, and Sean De Guzman.
The movie is directed by Lawrence Fajardo and the screenplay is written by the multi-awarded and critically acclaimed scriptwriter Ricky Lee.
