Easter is a time for hope and new beginnings, and in celebration, “CIA with BA” featured questions from viewers about second chances during its “Tanong ng Pilipino” segment.
A viewer from Bagac, Bataan, asked: “Nakulong po ako dati pero gusto ko nang magbagong-buhay. Pwede po ba akong makahanap ng trabaho?”
Attorney Mike Cesa said yes, explaining that the law supports equal job opportunities for everyone.
“Yes, pwede ka namang makahanap ng trabaho. Actually, ‘yung Constitution natin and ‘yung Labor Code, they both promote full employment and equal opportunities for all,” he said.
“As long as qualified ka sa trabaho na ina-applyan mo… As long as na-serve mo na ‘yung sentence mo, ibig sabihin ready ka nang bumalik,” he added.
A viewer from Carcar, Cebu, asked: “May record po ako ng pagnanakaw noong menor de edad ako pero na-acquit naman. Lalabas pa po ba ito sa NBI clearance ko?”
Attorney Cesa clarified that if someone is acquitted, it means they were found innocent.
“Considering na acquitted ka, ibig sabihin kasi no’n wala kang sala… na it’s as if wala ka talagang kaso,” said the legal expert.
He noted that the case shouldn’t appear on the NBI clearance. But if it does, “pwede mong dalhin sa NBI ‘yung certificate of finality… saka ‘yung copy ng decision na ina-acquit ka na.”
Through these real-life questions, “CIA with BA” highlighted that legal redemption and fresh starts are possible — echoing the true meaning of Easter.
Led by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and King of Talk Boy Abunda, “CIA with BA” continues the legacy of the late Senator Rene Cayetano and airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
