Actress Marian Rivera added another accolade to her career as she was announced on Sunday, Nov. 24, as the winner of the Best Actress award at the Rising Filipino Awards 2024 for her role in the critically acclaimed film Balota.
The award-giving body praised Marian’s performance as Teacher Emmy in Balota, highlighting her ability to “foster creative and inclusive thinking within communities.”
The recognition also underscored her contributions to nation-building and her advocacy for sustainable development amid challenges.
In August, Marian earned her first Best Actress award at the Cinemalaya Film Festival for the same role, sharing the prize with Gabby Padilla. The film also earned her the title of “Actress of the Year” from Esquire magazine.
Directed by Kip Oebanda, Balota premiered at Cinemalaya 2024. Following its debut, the film had a nationwide release in October, featuring an extended cut.
