After seven months of tugging at viewers’ heartstrings, top-rating Afternoon Prime soap My Special Tatay comes to its touching and heart-warming finale tonight.
The inspirational drama series brought laughter and tears to the televiewers which showcased how a father’s love for his child conquered life’s challenges. Versatile Kapuso actor Ken Chan definitely made another mark on the small screen as Boyet, a man with Mild Intellectual Disability with Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder. For this soap, he was hailed as the TV Actor of the Year (Daytime Drama) while My Special Tatay was chosen as this year’s Popular TV Program (Daytime Drama) at the recently concluded 50th Box Office Entertainment Awards.
Ken will definitely treasure this show because this is one of his most favourite and memorable projects in GMA. “Iba po ang naging impact ng My Special Tatay para sa akin. Sa seven months ang dami pong nangyari sa akin at kay Rita (Daniela). May concert kami in May and sa international din. Bukod dun, may awards kami na nakuha. Nagkaroon din po kami ng single ni Rita, yung ‘Almusal.’ Tapos mapapanood pa sa iba countries ang show namin,” he said.
He is grateful for the successful run of the soap and for the viewers’ overwhelming support and love. “Nakakatuwa dahil marami ang nakaka-appreciate sa My Special Tatay. Marami pong mga nanay, lola na lumalapit sa akin at nagsasabi sila na nakaka-relate sila sa show at pinapanood nila. Tumatak po talaga sa kanila si Boyet. Ibig sabihin po nun nasa right path kami,” shared Ken.
Rita Daniela said that she feels extremely grateful for the opportunity given to her and portraying the role of Aubrey is a dream come true, “Mahilig po talaga akong umarte nung bata pa ako, iniisip ko na leading lady ako. Yung gandang-ganda sayo ang mga tao, at ang galing dahil nangyari siya at nagkatotoo dahil sa My Special Tatay,” she said.
The Kapuso singer/actress is happy since she got to work with an amazing cast. “Proud ako kasi masasabi ko na iba ang cast na ito. Ibang magtrabaho ang cast at staff. Napansin ko halos lahat passionate kaya ang sarap magtrabaho. Ang gaan namin sa set. Lalo si Direk LA (Madridejos). Napaka-understanding niya at binibigyan niya kami ng freewill kung ano ang gusto naming gawin sa trabaho. May teamwork talaga ang lahat,” she added.
