Janine in a different kind of romcom

Kapuso talent Janine Gutierrez stars in a romantic comedy, which she describes as “something different from all of the romcoms” that moviegoers have seen of late.

The story depicts events in the life of a young named Bert (played by Enchong Dee), who is quick-witted, sickly emotional and independent guy who falls for Elise (played by Janine), who, on the other hand, is a strong, tough, independent woman.

Early on since childhood, Bert developed feelings for Elise. But puppy love is not yet something that should be taken seriously. Later on, they get separated to pursue education and chase their dreams.

Years later, their paths cross and old feelings get rekindled. But their situation is different now; they are not young kids anymore and love is not a children’s game. New struggles arise when their current situations do not work in their favor.

“People might say that it’s another formula film, another romcom. It’s not just a love story. What makes it different is that the entire story is inspired by real events. It’s based on someone’s true story,” Janine told showbiz press in a recent interview.

“Personally, if a film is inspired by a true story, I find it more interesting to watch. And I hope the audience would see it that way,” she continued. “It’s a long journey from start to finish. It talks about love, moving on, loving again, chasing, and finding your own dream. And the movie is so fun to watch because a lot of the scenes just seemed real.”

Janine further said that the fun part of doing the film was working with people like Enchong. The Kapamilya actor made her enjoy the entire shooting process.

“If you get to know Enchong better, he’s a very nice person, approachable and very kind. He is really fun to be with. In the movie, people will see a different side of him that people will surely love and appreciate,” she mused.

This is the second time for Enchong and Janine – who come from different networks – to work together. The two previously appeared on the horror movie Lila in 2016.

Directed by Joel Ferrer, Elise also stars Miko Raval, Victor Anastacio, Laura Lehmann, and Miel Espinosa. The film opens Feb. 6, ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Janine also invites her fans and supporters to grace the premiere night of the film which is happening a day before it’s commercial screening.
