Dog tricks and a grand movie.

Tricks and flick shine in the ‘Alpha’ screening
Beauty queen Michelle Gumabao with her pet at the premiere of 'Alpha' at Gateway Platinum Cinema.

Hailed as “well-acted and beautifully filmed” masterpiece, historical adventure film Alpha was screened in advance to select media and celebrity guests.

Alpha is a compelling story of tracing back to the last Ice Age, in which the never-ending and world-changing friendship of men and animals started.

Gateway Cineplex, in partnership with Sony-Columbia Pictures Philippines, held a special screening for the epic film at the Gateway Platinum Cinema, preceded by a dog tricks performance of Storm the Flatcoated Retriever with her trainer and canine life coach, Genevieve Reyes.

Sitting, twirling, playing dead and even praying, Storm wowed the spectators with amazing tricks after following every command.

For Reyes, training dogs is a mere hobby not work. She was determined to raise and to train Storm by watching online videos and reading books.

Reyes reached the pinnacle when she was selected as one of the Asian recruits and the first Filipina to join the training program in the National Geographic show Cesar’s Recruit: Asia of world-renowned dog behaviorist Cesar Millan.

In training dogs, Reyes shared that it is not just giving a command and “it shouldn’t be like work for them you have to have fun with it and you’re dog should also have fun with what you’re doing.”

Joining the fun event is Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2018 Michele Gumabao, who is also a dog lover. She even had a performance with her dogs during the Binibini Talent Competition earlier this year.

Also, SAVER/LadySAVER, a DLSU MedVet Organization, shared their vision and programs to eradicate rabies in the country through seminars and vaccination drive.

“Together we can achieve rabies-free Philippines,” a representative concluded.

A man’s best friend is now a man’s mall mate.

Araneta Centre is now a pet-friendly community as it has opened the door to the pets in its mall premises in May. Pets can now have freedom with their owners to roam around the Gateway Mall, Farmers Plaza, and Ali Mall concierge by simply presenting Pet Pal ID, which is free of charge.

Additionally, pets with IDs will also have access to future Pet Pals events and promos.

Alpha is now open in Gateway and Ali Mall Cineplex, and in theaters nationwide.
