“All can relate to it,” Sunny Suwanmethanont, Chanchalerm Manasaporn, and director Vithaya Thongyuyong said in unison promising fans to leave the cinema with teary eyes when they promoted their latest feature in a press conference held at Marco Polo Hotel in Pasig

The romantic-comedy movie stars Thai heartthrob Sunny, Nichkhun Horvejkul of Korean boy band 2 PM, and TV Actress Urassaya “Yaya” Sperbund. After the success of his films My Girl and The Little Comedian, director Vithaya is happy to share his latest feature with the Filipino viewers. He immediately accepted directing the film for he found each sibling relationship as “very engaging and unique.”

From the production studio Gross Domestic Happiness (GDH) that produced the top-grossing film Bad Genius, Brother of the Year has been ranked as No. 1 in Thai box offices and across Asia. Garnering about 250 Million Baht (approximately 7.8 million dollars), the film is touted as the highest-grossing Thai film that has been screened across Asia.

Additionally, the film revolves around the siblings, Chut (Sunny) and Jane (Sperbund).  They have a cat-dog quarrel about anything that tests their relationship. Chut as “demon brother” makes a lot of trouble to his sister even to her perfect half-Japanese boyfriend Moji (Nichkhun Horvejkul). The siblings are never finding the middle ground, and it affects every decision in their life.

Asked about working with his director and co-stars, Sunny said that he felt a connection with all the people in the movie.

“It’s like the past life, destiny is destiny,” Thai actor comically remarked.

Director Vithaya has a plan to make a film similar to Brother if he would be given an opportunity, and this time with a Filipino as one of the siblings.

“We’re all Asians, all can appreciate this movie,” the director said as he believes that Filipinos can also relate to the message of the movie, which is loving our siblings no matter what.

The similarity of the Philippine and Thailand culture added to the director’s certainty that Filipinos can find the film great.

“You will cry watching this movie” casts vowed and they also invited all the Filipinos to go watch the film. They have a plan to go back to the Philippines for they found the country similar to Thailand. Furthermore, the film will make everyone realize that people are lucky to have siblings.
