The drama of two women fighting over a man is a classic tale. In real life, we see so much harassment, either physical or verbal, when two women are caught up in a love triangle involving just one man. It’s a shame yet it is also interesting to find out the background of the whole hullabaloo.

Beginning today, a similar conflict unfolds as GMA Network brings to light an intriguing series about a mother and daughter who turn rivals in love.

Kapag Nahati Ang Puso stars Sunshine Cruz and Bea Binene who play Rio and Claire, respectively. They unwittingly become fierce rivals without knowing their real relationship as mother and daughter. They are vying for the affection of Joaquin played by Benjamin Alves.
How this love triangle became possible is something viewers need to find out.

Talking to Benjamin, he said Joaquin is an interesting character. No, he’s not referring to him being shirtless in a couple of scenes.

“Joaquin is in his mid-twenties, he ’s a mechanic. I wouldn’t say he’s the family’s bread winner   kasi katrabaho naman niya yung tatay niya bilang  driver. He’s very down to earth,  madalas siyang tambay pero hindi siya magulo . He looks rough,  makulit siya pero swabe siya makipagusap . He knows how to talk to people,” the 29-year-old actor starts.

He could easily relate to the character. He says they have a few similarities. Although people see him as someone who’s very prim and proper, he reveals that he’s playful and spontaneous in real life.

Benjamin Alves as Joaquin Espiritu, the quirky yet dashing character in GMA‘s new series.

“Although it would surprise people, the playfulness, quirkiness, I think that ’s where I am really comfortable at in real life. Hindi lang napapakita minsan . If you’re on set  minsan  I usually play roles that are very proper so if the character turns a bit different, I mean kapag naglalaro na siya , it means  nagiging ako na yun,” he shares adding that he enjoys showing his real side through adlibs in his dialogue.

“The playfulness, the spontaneity,  pagkakulit niya , that’s what comes out. So, I guess that’s me.”

Benjamin also likes Joaquin’s character development as it allows him to showcase different facets of his personality as an actor.

“I like the character arch; at first you will see the playful side of Joaquin. But you will see the very human side of him. He ’s close to his family, very family oriented. Joaquin wants to pursue a lot of things which is quite overwhelming. Viewers will see that as the story progresses,” Benjamin states.

Kapag Nahati Ang Puso, which also stars David Licauco, Zoren Legaspi, and Bing Loyzaga, is Benjamin’s first series this year and one of the dozens series that he’s starred in since he moved to GMA in 2012.
