An all-star cast of today’s best and hottest millennials and the most-promising artists of their generation is in the movie claimed by the people behind it the scariest movie of the year.  Spirit of the Glass 2: The Haunted begins scaring moviegoers in cinemas nationwide on All Saints Day.

Directed by Jose Javier Reyes (who was also behind the wildly successful film festival entry Spirit of the Glass in 2004), the 2017 version of the franchise focuses on the riveting story of three beautiful ladies of the new millennium – Bea, a stylist and fashion editor (played by Cristine Reyes); Lisette, an actress and diva (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2016 Maxine Medina who is being introduced in this film); and Chelsea, a commercial and advertising model (Ashley Ortega).

The three girls much desired reputation of being the Girls of the Moment bask on their youth and popularity through social media.  Each has a partner — Bea is with Enzo (Daniel Matsunaga), an athlete businessman whose best buddy is Jag (Benjamin Alves), a scion of a rich family and boyfriend of Lisette, and Andre (Enrico Cuenca), Chelsea’s rich beau.

Young, beautiful and successful, they are completely unaware that they will be lured into the complicated world of the supernatural because of an article inherited by Bea from her grandaunt – a Ouija board. Together with their boyfriends, the three girls unwittingly open the gates for three spirits in the other world to connect with them when they decide to play with the Ouija Board allowing disturbed souls to seek justice for a crime committed 50 years ago.  And then, the haunting begins.

The young cast members are so excited about coming together for this movie – and the fact that this is a horror-supernatural-thriller adds to their overflowing enthusiasm. “We are very fond of watching scary movies. I think it is a millennial thing. That’s why, while we were doing this film, especially the super scary scenes, we were very excited. We had a lot of fun,” they chorused.

Reyes says, “Indeed, we all had fun. That is as much as I can say.  We gave them a workshop to get to know each other since they were playing a barkada of young professionals and I think they bonded a wee bit too much. They ended up being the most makulit set of actors on the set but not a single one had a diva moment nor made life difficult for me and the staff, despite the hectic working schedule; this is was one fun set,” he said.

The director also tells of the most fun he had while shooting the film. “When we did our rigging scenes where furniture pieces fly, glasses crash and the ghosts appear, I deliberately did not inform the actors as to what will happen.  The staff was only made to stand by in case one of the actors accidentally moved to an area where there was rigging. So when I said action, they did not know what to expect. They did not know chairs will fly or tables will spin or that a ghost will appear out of nowhere. The screams — especially of beautiful Maxine who is so matatakutin — are very, very real.”

Spirit of the Glass 2:The Haunted, brought to you by OctoArts Films in association with T-Rex Entertainment, is expected to equal, if not surpass, the earlier success charted by the first Spirit of the Glass (Rica Peralejo, Marvin Agustin, Dingdong Dantes, Jake Cuenca, Drew Arellano, Paolo Contis, Ciara Sotto and Alessandra de Rossi). The sequel promises an even scarier and more haunting experience, especially if you watch it on opening day, Nov. 1 at your favorite theaters.
