Biggest, funniest family comedy film

This year’s biggest and funniest family comedy film, Our Mighty Yaya, is an overload of fresh, new and zany antics fit for a riotous Mother’s Day treat this May.

Box-office Comedy Queen, Queens International Film Festival Best Female Actor, Ulirang Ina and Papal Awardee Ai Ai de las Alas leads the stellar cast of the Joey Reyes movie.

Ai Ai is the perfect choice to play the role of Virgie, the doting and loving yaya of the well-off Sevilla family. Virgie leaves home to work as a yaya in the big city to give her family, especially her kids, a better life and future. Little did she know that the job she would find herself in would involve difficulties from in and out of her employer’s family.

She soon unwittingly finds herself in a battlefield between warring families and co-workers. When business tycoon Antonio “Tonichi” Sevilla becomes a widower, he marries a beauty queen named Monique (Megan Young), much to the disapproval of his three kids, Maria (Sofia Andres), Kevin (LucasMagallano) and Peachy (Alyson McBride).

BACK TO COMEDY. After a series of indie projects, comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas plays a nanny in Regal Entertainment's Mother's Day offering

The three find an ally in the family’s mayordoma and the other workers at the mansion. Things, however, change when Virgie enters the frame. She develops a close bond with Kevin when the latter suffers from dengue. This infuriates Monique when confronted by Tonichi about her lack of maternal instincts.

Rebellious Maria, who is not supposed to have a boyfriend until she graduates from college, hates Virgie for catching her while on date with her boyfriend. But Virgie saves Maria from Monique’s anger by making up an excuse for her which almost cost her job.

Maria comes to Virgie’s rescue and admits her fault. She says she wants Virgie to stay. Tonichi and Monique give in to the children’s wishes.

Virgie’s son then comes to Manila to visit his mom. Virgie’s joy shifts to sadness when her son suddenly grows envious of how she takes care of the Sevilla children. A serious conflict between mother and son then ensues with Monique joining the picture to enlighten Virgie’s child about the hardships his mother go through while doing her tasks at the Sevilla mansion.

And so, from then on, all’s well that ends well in the Sevilla abode. In real life, AiAi has had yayas who took care of her and her children. She says nannies who have worked for her have taught her valuable lessons on taking care of her children.

Ai Ai’s struggles as a single mom are public knowledge. Her life is an open book and people are aware that she prioritizes the welfare of her kids over everything else. Should she be given a new title, ‘The Great Mother’ would be so apt.

Today, as she makes her comeback to the Regal fold via Our Mighty Yaya, Ai Ai is a queen all her own. So inspired is she about this new project that she really went all out in giving moviegoers a taste of her new brand of comedy.

Our Mighty Yaya is one heap of a riotously fun movie that is sure to warm the hearts of nanays, yayas and the whole family come Mother’s Day.
