Making the impossible possible

Former screen sweethearts and real life couple Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta are back on the screen. Not in a movie or TV series but in a TV commercial for a fast food brand.

And everyone thought it was an impossible deal to make after the couple failed to agree to star in a movie that could herald their comeback as a screen couple.

Twenty five years since they last starred together, the iconic tandem of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion– one of the most enduring love teams that defined the colorful, idyllic ‘80s—finally makes its much-awaited grand comeback in McDonald’s latest commercial!

The TVC, which highlights McDonald’s Best Tasting Chicken McDo and World Famous Fries pairing, was carefully crafted to take audiences down memory lane as they recall the happy memories of a tambalan that remains unmatched in the hearts of many.

Set to one of Sharon’s hit songs “Kumusta Ka”, we see the two chancing upon each other in a McDonald’s store and enjoying a quiet meal together—their first after a very long time.

Days before the official launch, the tandem surprised everyone with unexpected engagement on social media. From following each other on Instagram, posting several throwback photos, and teasing fans that “this is only the beginning”—these definitely got people, even their daughter and other celebrities, talking about the reunion project.

Fans went crazy on social media and expressed how ecstatic they are for the comeback project of their idols. As one netizen shared “McDo lang pala ang sagot sa reunion ng Sharon-Gabby!”

“Chicken McDo with Fries. Yummy,” says Gabby on his recent Instagram post. The much-loved combination of McDonald’s Best Tasting Chicken and World Famous Fries prove that it is indeed a perfect tandem that mirrors the enduring strength of #ShaGab.

The power couple shares the excitement of fans over the release of the TVC and is thankful for the opportunity to work together once again.

Perfect combinations are hard to come by, but Sharon and Gabby show that just like the Chicken McDo and Fries, some tandems endure the test of time.

RK Bagatsing reflects on his big break as one of the lead stars in 'Wildflower'
RK Bagatsing always treats every project he gets as his big break but playing the role of Mayor Arnaldo Ardiente-Torillo in ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series Wildflower, he admits, is the biggest so far in his career.

“Who would have thought that I will end up acting with Maja (Salvador), Aiko (Melendez), and Tirso (Cruz III), and can also be called ‘pogi’ like Joseph (Marco) and Vin (Abrenica)?” he quipped.

“A few years ago, I was just going around Makati, going from one rejection to another in VTRs and auditions hoping I could land just one TVC or film project to make ends meet. That’s why I am super grateful to the show,” he added.

Just like avid viewers who embraced his character, RK would definitely miss playing his role as Arnaldo and most especially, the people he worked with every day.

“I will miss Arnaldo because he taught me a lot of things. Because of him, I learned to follow my instincts and get out of my comfort zones. But of course, Arnaldo wouldn’t be Arnaldo without the characters surrounding him. From my director to my co-actors, I will definitely miss all of them more than I will miss playing Arnaldo,” RK shared.

He may already said goodbye to the show but the lesson he learned from being part of the top rating drama will forever remain.

“I learned to relax and not put pressure on myself because it only leads to being a failure. Somewhere along the road, I learned to let go and follow the process. I realized that mistakes and disappointments are part of our lives and it only shows that you have tried. As long as I do my best and come in prepared, even if I commit mistakes, I know that things will be okay. These are the tools I’m bringing with me as I move-on to my next projects,” he stated.
