Taylor Swift is Billboard’s Top Artist of the 21st Century

Grammy-award-winning singer Taylor Swift has claimed the top spot on Billboard’s “Top Artists of the 21st Century” chart, solidifying her status as a global pop phenomenon.

The list is based on two decades of data from the Billboard 200 album chart and the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, spanning from January 2000 to December 2024.

Taylor’s record-breaking achievements were central to her rise to the top. With 14 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, she now holds the record for the most chart-toppers by any female artist in history. Her achievement also extends to singles, with 12 No. 1 hits on the Hot 100, including tracks from her 2022 blockbuster album Midnights. That release saw her make history as the first artist to occupy all 10 top spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously—a feat she surpassed in May 2024 when her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, claimed the top 14 positions.

Released in April 2024, her latest album shattered records, earning 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week. It also set new standards for vinyl sales, moving 859,000 copies in seven days, while its tracks garnered a staggering 891.37 million on-demand streams.

The “Blank Space” singer also capped off her monumental year with the conclusion of her historic Eras Tour in December 2024. The tour became the first in history to gross $2 billion globally, drawing fans from across the world for over three hours of career-spanning performances at each show. Her setlists celebrated her evolution as an artist, with hits like “Cruel Summer,” “Love Story,” “Lavender Haze,” and “Anti-Hero” electrifying crowds night after night.
