Sparkle artist Seb Pajarillo got personal on his second single, “Dati Pa”, released on Friday, November 22, under GMA Music. The soulful track dives deep into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, showcasing a more vulnerable side of the singer-actor.
Speaking to Manila Standard Entertainment, Seb shared how the song’s poignant lyrics hit close to home.
“When GMA Playlist pitched a list of songs to me, this stood out the most. I could say that this song really feels like the moment when I was still in the process of moving on from a relationship,” said Seb.
Reflecting on a past three-year relationship, the 21-year-old artist revealed how he resonated with the song’s story. Despite moving on, the emotions came rushing back when he first heard the track.
“I had a relationship before where I had a really hard time moving on. I kept thinking, ‘Where did I go wrong? Can we just go back to how we used to be?’ And then, I heard this song, and I was like, ‘This is very close to me. Why does it feel like I’m going back to that time? Even though I’ve already moved on,” he continued.
“That’s why the process of recording was okay and became easier. Because my feelings and emotions from before were still there. So, I understood it better and could sing it with more pain,” Seb added.
“Dati Pa” also marked a shift in Seb’s artistic journey, contrasting sharply with his debut single, “Want You”. While his first track captured the intensity of falling in love and making sacrifices, “Dati Pa” explores the aftermath of lost love.
“Compared to my first single, ‘Want You’, which talks more about being in love and being willing to sacrifice everything—really being deeply in love with someone. In contrast, ‘Dati Pa’ conveys a different emotion or feeling. The rhythm is also very different, much slower compared to ‘Want You’. And this really challenges my vocal skills,” he explained.
“Dati Pa” is now available for streaming on various digital platforms.
