SB19’s main vocalist, Stell, has finally decided to do a solo project after thinking about it for a long time. Even though his bandmates and others encouraged him before, Stell wanted to wait until he felt the time was right.
On Friday, June 14, Stell released his first solo single, “Room,” and announced that he has joined Warner Music Philippines. During the launch, the 29-year-old P-pop star also introduced the music video for the single.
The project, in partnership with 1Z Entertainment, showcases Stell’s impressive vocal ability and hints at the other talents he has up his sleeve as an artist.
“We are excited to work with Stell, an artist whose drive to excel inspires many. I’m confident that we can help him develop his sound and style for his upcoming music. We look forward to Stell making his mark on the industry,” said Sarah Ismail, Managing Director of Warner Music Philippines.
In turn, Stell mentioned the essential support from his SB19 bandmates and collaborators – the key people instrumental in bringing his debut solo single to life.
“I accepted the project when I felt it was the right time. At first, I didn’t think I could do a solo project, and I’m very thankful to my fellow SB19 members. Pablo wrote the song and his brother Josue co-produced, Justin directed the music video, and Josh and Ken made significant contributions along the process. I felt their full support,” Stell said.
“When all you hear is positive feedback, it’s hard to know if you’re actually improving. Sometimes, it’s better to get feedback from people outside your circle, as that’s the only way to truly grow,” he said being prepared for any kind of feedback including criticism.
For the choreography, Stell wanted something unique. “We wanted something different. I didn’t want to limit the choreography to one idea. I wanted the dancers to feel and interpret the music. The choreography is sexy and sensual, but also classy.”
As a multi-talented musician, dancer, actor, and host, Stell is exploring all possible avenues as a solo performer. He aims to go beyond genres and will work closely with Warner Music Philippines and other artists.
“Room” is just the beginning, serving as a preview of Stell’s upcoming EP set for release in August. To promote the record, Stell will go on a nationwide tour.
