Newly-established Tarsier Records gets its first-ever recognition with “Phone Down,” performed by Moophs featuring Sam Concepcion, as Best Dance Recording in the recent Awit Awards held at the New Frontier Theatre in Quezon City.
“Phone Down”—an electronic dance music (EDM) track composed by Moophs a.k.a. Chris Lopez, the DJ/producer who heads Tarsier Records—was part of the maiden tracks released by the music label when it started last year.
A partnership between Warner Music Group and ABS-CBN Corporation, Tarsier aims to take locally-produced and globally-sourced music to a wider international audience and showcase Filipino music on the world stage. Tarsier’s latest release is a collaboration between Moira dela Torre and Los Angeles-based artist, Nieman Gatus, “KNOTS,” which premiered in Indonesia recently.
Now on its 31st year, Awit Awards is the longest-running music awarding body in the country with an impressive record of recognizing OPM’s best and brightest, led by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI).
